Huon Hooke
Deep red colour, a tinge of brick and purple in the rim. Peppermint aroma, also tomato bush smells. Quite intense and chunky, with ample tannins and some density. A little rustic, but good.

Deep garnet colored, the 2006 First Eleven Cabernet Sauvignon presents intense eucalypt, kirsch and black currant cordial aromas with an undercurrent of cloves and tree bark. Medium to full bodied and with plenty of taut fruit in the mouth, it’s well supported by crisp acid and a medium to firm level of grainy tannins, finishing long. Still very vibrant and youthful, it’s just entering its drinking window now and should cellar to 2023+.

93 Points James Halliday
Savoury/spicy nuances swirl around the cassis and blackcurrant fruit on the medium- to full-bodied palate, which has good length. Deserves a better cork. Drink to 2026.
