Huon Hooke
Deepish red/purple colour. Shy, plum cherry aromas, bright and fruit-driven, a tinge of toasty, smoky nuances; not very complex yet, but promising to age well. Some regional smokiness. Intense and medium-weighted, with a thread of nervy acidity. Tangy clean acid finish. Elegant and nicely proportioned wine.

On the light side of medium-bodied but it's not necessarily what you have but how you use it, and this wine lays the charm on. Cherry-plum notes with earth and spice. Juicy. A whisper of vanillin oak. It works. Drink to 2023.
