Ranked #8 of 73 2007 Shiraz from Barossa Valley

Huon Hooke
Deep, youthful colour and a relatively backward wine, with youthful aromas and a firm, slightly solid palate which is only just starting to mature. Black fruits, dark-chocolate, espresso coffee. It's bold, firm and full-bodied, concentrated and dense, and lacked the charm of the '07 Rockford Basket Press served beside it. It promises to be long-lived and will benefit from being cellared longer.

92 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet in color, the 2007 Amon-Ra is a little flat on the nose with dusty earth, kirsch and leather notes fused with dried berries, sandalwood and spice box. Full-bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it has very crisp acid and tannins that are a little chewy through the long and spicy finish. Drink it now until 2018+.

96 Points James Halliday
Vibrant colour; saturated black fruits, fruitcake, licorice and an element of tar; terrific purity and drive, and despite the power, the palate is lithe and supple; complex, compelling and certainly representative of the very essence of the region. Drink to 2025.
