Ranked #2 of 37 2010 Chardonnay from Adelaide Hills
97/100
5 Stars
Huon Hooke
Light to palish yellow colour. Mineral, slightly funky nose, some 'struck rock' or even subtle matchstick character. This is rich and full in the mouth, very generous flavour for such a young wine, and yet tight and smooth, dry and fine, very extended finish and aftertaste. Long term future, but surprisingly accessible at this age. Great flavour and the finish is incredibly long and full.

10A completes a trilogy of successive 97 point vintages - an unparalleled record in my score book! This alone must Reserve Bin A as the finest Australian chardonnay of the modern era. 10A carries on the legacy as much by its ultra-fine Adelaide Hills fruit purity as its delightful lees-derived complexity of flint and gunsmoke. These conspire to build mind-boggling texture of fine, almost slatey minerality. Seamless harmony, focused primary fruit, well-defined acidity and epic persistence confirm a spectacularly age-worthy chardonnay. Drink 2017 - 2025.
