Huon Hooke
("Heather Jean") Deep red/purple colour. Subdued, dusty, savoury aromas, wood-matured complexities, with hints of spice, smoke and cedar cigarbox. Classy oak. It's starting to acquire some early complexities from development. Very intense and focused briary, cedar and savoury red and darker fruit flavours, elegantly weighted and poised. Full-bodied and powerful, with penetrating length and resonant aftertaste. A superb wine with outstanding potential. (4% malbec, 2% cabernet franc. From the Woodlands Vineyard)

Deep garnet purple in color, the 2010 ‘Heather Jean’ Cabernet Sauvignon gives a nose of crushed black currants, mulberries and macerated black plums with hints of menthol, dried bay leaf, cigar boxes and fertile earth. Medium-bodied and bursting with blackberry, earthy and minted flavor layers, it has a solid backbone of fine grained tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and well-poised. Approachable now, it should drink to 2022+.
