Huon Hooke
Deep red/purple colour. Lifted raspberry, blood plum and faintly tomato-like aromas, the palate dry and fairly grippy, with a robustness and pucker which is quite assertive.

A blend of co-fermented cabernet sauvignon (76%) and shiraz (24%) matured for 15 months in new and used French oak barriques and hogsheads. It shares the bright, deep colour of all the '10 releases, the bouquet with a classic mix of plum and cassis. The medium to full-bodied palate follows suit, with a seamless array of serious black fruits encompassing the blackcurrant of the cabernet, and the spicy blackberry of the shiraz on a foundation of impressive, but perfectly balanced and integrated, tannins. Drink to 2035.
