Huon Hooke
(Shiraz, mataro, viognier, marsanne) Medium to deep red colour, with a good purple tint. Stemmy and floral aromas come first, then violet and spices - it's an unusual shiraz based wine. It's only light to medium-bodied, but the tannins are quite firm and pointed. It's gritty and grippy, with some final alcohol heat. It demands patience. Good, but the floral and white fruit aromas and flavours are eccentric. Cellar it.
