Huon Hooke
Deep red/purple, excellent youthful colour. The wine is deep and chocolaty to sniff, with dark berries interwoven with toasty oak and cocoa-powder, a hint of espresso coffee and lots of other scents. Full bodied and dense in the mouth, with richness, extract and concentration, it finishes with a mass of smooth, supple tannin. The overall impression is of a very satisfying drink - if a bit oaky. It's well worth cellaring long term.

96 Points James Halliday
A selection of grapes from the best blocks, matured in oak barriques for 28 months (55% new, mostly French). A particularly elegant wine, one of the best-balanced Odysseys for some years, with supple cassis, earth, mint and black olive cradled by fine quality oak, and protected by high quality cork (the Spanish owner of Freixinet having friends in the right places). There is no reason why this wine will not kick on well past its 20th birthday. Drink to 2045.
