Huon Hooke
(Barossa Valley & Coonawarra) Very deep, dark, brooding red with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is very complex and smacks of both cabernet and shiraz, with blueberry and blackberry notes and a generous infusion of savoury oak. Mocha and dark chocolate, too. The wine is full-bodied and rich, velvet-smooth and supple in the mouth, with masses of fleshy tannins and superb texture. The balance is impeccable and the persistence impressive. A well-structured, complex wine of power and charm, which will age superbly in the long term. (Commemorates the centenary of Max Schubert's birth in 1915. 61% cabernet, 31% shiraz. Less than 500 cases made)
