Huon Hooke
Deepish red/purple hue, the bouquet cherry-like and simple, but clean and bright and typical shiraz. It's medium-bodied, leanish and quite intense in the mouth, with an attractively refreshing finish and clean acidity. A very elegant and appealing wine which drinks superbly right now. I would like a glass of it with dinner, thanks. Oak is especially subtle and well-handled.

The plethora of words on the front and back labels provide no useful information beyond the fact that the vineyards contributing to the wine have frontage to V&A Lane. This is Coonawarra at its elegant best, silky smooth, juicy, and fragrant red fruits to the fore, fine-grained tannins and subtle oak kept under tight control, allowing the fruit maximum freedom of expression. A forerunner of what will be a very distinguished group of top-end wines coming from Wynns '12 vintage bonanza. Drink to 2042.
