Ranked #4 of 66 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz from Barossa Valley

From a drought year that produced small bunches of dry grapes and wines with plenty of tannin. This is a big, structured and moderately closed wine with an heroic structure and very ripe fruit flavours. A little hard to read right now, but the wine deserves to be cellared for a few years before opening.

Deep garnet-purple, the 2013 The Signature (Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz) has very youthful, pure black fruits aromas with a pronounced black plum and black currant nose with underlying pepper, Provence herbs and licorice suggestions. Big, dense and profoundly expressive in the mouth, the palate is firmly constructed with chewy tannins and great persistence. This is just starting to open, so forget it for 3-5 years and drink it over the next twenty.

Still youthful and closed, the 2013 The Signature Cabernet Shiraz has a deep garnet-purple color with notes of cassis, cedar, a touch of herbs and warm blackberries. The wine has a firm structure, while being grainy with a racy line going through it. It has great length and should age beautifully!
