Bollinger

Bollinger is one of the great champagne houses in France. Bollinger produces several labels of champagne under the Bollinger name, including the vintage Vieille Vignes Francaises, Grand Annee and R.D. as well as the non-vintage Special Cuvee. Founded in 1829 in Ay by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger, the house continues to be run by members of the Bollinger family.

Lilly Bollinger, who inherited the flourishing wine house from her husband Jacques in 1941, is one of the legends in the history of champagne. Lilly tirelessly toured the Bollinger vineyards on her bicycle, overseeing every stage of viticulture and winemaking. She also travelled all over the world to promote the brand.

Lilly managed Bollinger until 1971, when her nephews Claude d'Hautefeuille and Christian Bizot succeeded her.
