89 Points Hooke
Very good, deep red/purple colour. The bouquet is fresh, young and vibrant with lifted raspberry, cassis and aromatic oak characters. A trace of herbal and mint. The palate is lean and taut, slightly hollow, with full-body and a tapered palate that ends in a firm and somewhat unbalanced finish. Tannin outshines fruit sweetness at this stage. It needs food, and will certainly benefit from some cellar-time. Drink 2022 - 2036.
Huon Hooke, The Real Review. August, 2020
Classic crimson colour. Matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads for 20 months, the nose is utterly beguiling. Chocolate-coated liquorice, violets, blackberry, and freshly cut rosemary. This wine commands contemplation. The plate is concentrated and superbly balanced. Flavours of roasted coffee bean, blood plums, blackberries are intense. This is a cloying tannin filled flavour bomb! The tannins are silky, fruit and alcohol are perfectly balanced with the supremely integrated natural acid. This wine has a foot in each camp, being reserved to start, but bold to finish. Standing it in great stead for a stint in your cellar so lay this vintage down. Enjoy over the next 12 - 25yrs. 14.6% Vol. 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, 9% Merlot. Bottled in 750mL and Magnum.
