93+ Points Robert Parker
The 2022 White Duck is a blend of about 36% to 39% each of Roussanne and Marsanne, with about 25% total of Viognier and Grenache Blanc. The fruit is fermented in barrel, and 100% goes through malolactic fermentation; and it is not racked or sulfured until bottling. The wine is then matured on lees for six months in a large-format (2,500 liters) French oak vat and a selection of puncheons (approximately 10% new). There are honeysuckle florals on the nose, with green apple, apricot blossom, white pepper, beeswax, dried pineapple, almond meal and jasmine tea. The wine is fresh and vital, with a creamy undercurrent of phenolic texture, which carries the flavor through the finish. This is very good and stylistically en pointe, with natural acid and nothing added. 13.6% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2023 - 2030.
