Huon Hooke
Deep red purple, dark and somewhat black tinged. Deep, dense, foresty, oak-driven aroma; hints of chocolate but not overly dominant. Fleshy palate, smooth and has some density. Just a bit mawkish from tannin and rather unsubtle, unrefined texture. It's almost a bit coarse - certainly it lacks elegance. But plenty of big unsubtle flavour and it's fairly soft.

93 Points James Halliday
Dense colour; strongly regional and unapologetically full-bodied, dark chocolate and plum fruit is surrounded by generous, barrel ferment oak; gets away (just) with its alcohol. Drink to 2027.
